Alys Beach New Urbanism

Alys Beach is chronologically the 3rd of 3 (Seaside, Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach) legendary coastal communities along Scenic 30A designed by visionary designers Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk. Most simply stated, If there is a development in Walton County’s New Urbanism genre that most readily brings the cinematic idea of ‘utopia’ to mind… you just found it.
Located 2 miles west of the east-most end of Scenic 30A, Alys Beach is a 158 acre gulf front planned community. While similar by intention to it’s predecessors— Seaside and Rosemary Beach— to be town centered, walkable, social-promoting communities with ease of resident and vacationer beach access, Alys Beach is wildly unique in it’s final presentation. As if the absolutely stunning and equally luxurious design theme rooted in Moorish and Mediterranean style with incorporated architectural inspirations from Bermuda wasn’t enough… Duany and Plater-Zyberk added expansive courtyards influenced by homes in Antigua, Guatemala. The resulting aesthetic, washed white like the gulf coast sands, is nothing short of mesmerizing.
While Alys Beach does have quick access to US 98 for ease of commuting and exploring South Walton County’s endless options for shopping, dining and entertainment, you might just find 2 things out once you arrive: 1. That you don’t want to leave… and 2. that the lengthy list of Alys Beach merchants will go a long way in making that possible.
